These questions are difficult to answer because there are so many variables that go into what makes a camera “good.” In this article, we will discuss the differences between these two cameras and help you decide which is right for you!

The MAX is a high-end action camera that can shoot 360 footage. You can see this from the moment you get it.

We love GoPro’s robust build quality. As you would expect, both are waterproof to protect the inside of the component without external casing. The Hero 8 measures 46 mm high, MAX is 69mm and Hero 8 measures 61 mm wide. Hero 8 is 64 mm wider. The layout of control for these cameras is the same as other GoPro cameras. There’s a microphone in the front, a status lamp at the top and a folding mount at their base.

Sensor and Lens

GoPro claims that the Max has four digital lenses. It is a 360-degree camera with two 180-degree “real lenses” that allow it to see the entire world.

360-degree video can be taken with the Fusion and the Hero 8 Black. If you’ve used a high-end GoPro, these will look familiar.

The Max can also take 360-degree panorama photos. It can also provide better stabilization than Hero 8 Black’s lens. GoPro has named Max as the “world’s most stable Hero” due to Max HyperSmooth mode. This allows for smoother photos and keeps the horizon perfectly level.

We won’t call this a sweep for the Max.

The 12-megapixel sensor in both cameras is 12-megapixel. But let’s look at how much of that sensor is actually used when shooting at a standard-style action camera field of view. The more the sensor is used, the closer the view is to the lens.

The more sensors we have, the better our chances of seeing a good performance in low light and finer detail.

GoPro’s are video-first cameras. None of these cameras will be able to capture the same quality as a dedicated photography camera. These cameras can still produce decent-quality images.

4000 by 3000 pixels is the maximum resolution possible for Hero 8, with an aspect ratio of 4:13. Although this is not a huge resolution, it’s enough to share on social media. Many flagship phones also shoot at this resolution.

The quality of a photo is improved with Superphoto’s use of the GoPro’s computational power to automatically analyze a scene, improve color and dynamic range, and enhance the picture quality. This is a subtle yet effective method to enhance image quality. HDR mode, which stands for high dynamic range, combines three exposures into realistic images in low-light situations.

These modes can be great for improving your images’ quality, but the Raw mode cannot be disabled. In most cases, shooting in normal mode with RAW disabled will produce better quality images if you can edit in Lightroom and Photoshop.

The GoPro Max offers a unique set of capabilities. The Max can take standard and 360 photos with either one or both of its lenses. Max’s photo quality is average. It doesn’t have a RAW mode. This is a significant step back from Fusion. However, a future software update will likely introduce RAW mode.

PowerPano is Max’s most distinctive photo feature. PowerPano allows you to take full panoramas without any errors in one shot. This is a big improvement on the way smartphones panoramas work. Max’s photography capabilities are not much to brag about.

I’d want the GoPro Max to have 4K single-camera capture as an addition to 360° video. It’s not feasible. However, with a rear camera and screen that may work in tandem with six microphones to capture a more immersive audio recording, this choice is a good selfie vlogging camera.

The GoPro Max’s main selling feature is its ability to shoot 5.6K video in all directions. The 5.6K footage, which was recorded at 6K resolution and stitched with the company’s proprietary 5.6K, allows for easy 720P-grade recording. There is a lot of editing required, but the colors are stunning.

The Hero 8 Black is an excellent action camera that offers higher quality than the Max and can film in either 1080p at 16×9 widescreen or 1440p 4:3 proportion. Despite having a lower level of resolution it still looks good with full HD video clarity because horizontal leveling ensures footage doesn’t face any direction other than what’s being recorded which makes these videos appear similar to those shot using gimbals but actually quite impressive!

In addition, the Hero 8 Black provides 4K video at a frame rate of up to 60fps, which is the main feature of Full HD video mode. Slow-motion footage can also be captured in Full HD video mode at a speed of up to 240fps, which is 8x slower than regular.

The GoPro Max and GoPro Hero 8 are both great action cameras. They have different features, but they both offer good quality video recording. If you’re looking for an action camera to record your outdoor adventures, either of these cameras will work well.

However, if you’re trying to decide between the two, there are a few things to consider. The GoPro Max has higher-quality video recording and is easier to use than the GoPro Hero 8. It also has built-in stabilization, which is helpful when filming shaky scenes. However, the GoPro Hero 8 is cheaper than the Max, so it may be a better option if you’re on a budget.
